Innisfil Historical Society - About

The Innisfil Historical Society is concerned with the history of the Town of Innisfil, Ontario. Innisfil is located south of Barrie and includes the communities of Stroud, Alcona, Churchill, Lefroy, Bell Ewart, and Cookstown. The Society meets monthly, except for December, July and August, at 2 p.m. on the third Saturday of the month. Most meetings are held at the Knock Community Centre, located at 7756 10 Sideroad of Innisfil (county road #54), at the 9th Line.

The format for meetings varies, most of which feature a guest speaker. The Society also has "open houses" with displays, working sessions, and an annual bus tour of historical sites in Innisfil. All meetings are open to the public and free of charge.

At Knock, the Society has a Document Centre. The Centre has a collection of all types of documents of historic interest about Innisfil. The Centre is open to the public by appointment.

A number of publications about Innisfil's history are available for purchase. Titles and ordering information can be found on a link from this page.

All members of the Society receive a newsletter, published 9 times a year. As well as information on the Society's activities, the newsletter reprints items of historical interest.

Annual membership dues for 2006 are: Individual $15; Family $15
